4BRH On and Off the Track

Aside from being a highly-respected member of the Tickford Capri community
and expert in maintaining the cars, Brian Hollins, owner of Build 031
has also held RAC Competition Licences since the 1980s.

Over the past thirty years, Brian has been a prolific track-visitor with his car,
attending events at Brands Hatch, Castle Combe, Goodwood,
Silverstone, Snetterton and even North Weald drag strip!

Here's what happened when Build 031 went drag racing:

In the first race, Brian was beaten by Build 090, but only because of reaction
time - in the drag racing world this is known as a "holeshot win" where
the winning car is actually slower, but got off the line faster

In the second race, he made mincemeat of a V8-powered Capri

Although in more recent years, Brian has not attended track days, he
continues to take great pride in keeping Build 031 on top form.

His car looks totally stock, but has an engine rebuilt by Specialised Engines Ltd in
Essex with low compression pistons and Stage 1 cylinder heads, together
with a higher-capacity intercooler from Pace Products in Suffolk.

I can testify that Build 031 is definitely one of the quickest Tickfords
out there and the added torque makes it pull like a train!

Brian also has an uprated gearbox ready to fit from BGH Geartech so it will
be very interesting to see the difference that this makes in due course.
